Dean Albert Hooper | Passages

POULSBO — Dean Albert Hooper (Aug. 17, 1940 — March 8, 2012) died peacefully in his home. He was 71.

Dean, the eldest of three children, was born in Wichita, Kan., to Elizabeth Ruth (Burns) and Clarence John Hooper. He attended Wichita High School East, entering the U.S. Navy upon graduation in 1958.

He married Laticia Ann Rhodes in 1960 and they had three children: Barbara Lynne (Mike) Cruise of Hubert, N.C., John (Jennifer) Hooper of Poulsbo, and Phillip Hooper of Baltimore, Md.

He served in the Navy for 20 years, retiring as a chief torpedoman’s mate. Then he began working for Hughes as the go-to guy for MK 48 weapons program testing at the shop at Keyport. After he retired in 1996, genealogy became his passion.

Dean is survived by his wife and children, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother Earl (Nancy) Hooper of Poulsbo, sister Linda (Harold) Junkins of Toronto, Kan., and many other loving family members.

Memorial will be held March 17, 1 p.m., at the clubhouse of Liberty Ridge Condos, 20455 NW 1st Ave., off Bond Road in Poulsbo. Arrangements by Tuell McKee Bremerton.
