POULSBO — Auditions for for the play reading of “Blessed Event,” by playwright Jim Hetrick, are scheduled for Oct. 10, 7 p.m. at the Jewel Box Theatre, 225 Iverson St., in downtown Poulsbo. There are parts for four men and five women, ages 40s to 70s.

The play reading itself is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15. The play takes place in the family home where the patriarch, Charlie, lies dying. The family has gathered, and past and present relationships are examined.  As with all families, some things are funny, and some are difficult, and the play reading will fill the audience with laughter and tears.

Play readings at the Jewel Box are just $5 at the door, and more information is available at http://www.jewelboxpoulsbo.org/, or by calling the theater at (360) 697-3183.
