HANSVILLE — The Show ‘N Shine Car Show is July 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Buck Lake Park, sponsored by the Greater Hansville Community Center. The day’s activities are free and open to the public.
Classic and hot rod cars will be on display beginning early morning, and owners will be eager to raise the hood for you to inspect their engines. Vintage-car owners can display their cars for just $15 each. The first 100 car show participants will receive a commemorative car show dash plaque.
Beginning about 11:30, the Navy Band Northwest 18-piece show band will perform music from the Big Band era, as well as popular contemporary songs and patriotic numbers.
Next, The Hometown Band will play numbers reminiscent of the era when local bands would play in bandstands at community parks.
Finally, Rural Delivery, a contemporary bluegrass quintet, will play acoustic music with rich vocal harmonies, instrumental expertise and energetic presence. This group includes Roger Ferguson, the 1979-80 national guitar flat-picking champion, on fiddle; Terrence Enyeart on mandolin and vocals; Steve Thomas on guitar and vocals; Dale Williams on banjo; and Deborah Enyeart on bass.
Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a picnic in the park. You can opt to bring your own basket, or purchase a meal and ice cream inside the Community Center. For more information, call Marco Tyler, (360( 638-0221.
