Midsommer is June 25 at Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park.

The event features folk dancers, musicians, the Sons of Norway Vikings and Norwegian specialty foods. There will also be craft demonstrations, face painting, games for children, and wreath making.

Nordic animals — including buhunds, an Icelandic sheep dog, a Norwegian elghund and a Norrbottem Spitz will be at the park.

Poulsbo Sons of Norway, the Historic Downtown Business Association, Marina Market and Poulsbo Rotary are sponsoring this traditional celebration.

In Scandinavia, Midsommer is associated with the birthdate of St. John the Baptist. Norwegians call it Sankt Hans, or Jonsok, and honor it with bonfires, eating, drinking and merry-making.

Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park is next to the Sons of Norway Lodge, 18891 Front St. NE.
