Kitsap Aikido is offering a free drop-in fitness class to the public on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6:15-7 a.m. at 650 NW Bovela Lane No. 5 in Poulsbo. The class emphasizes stretching, flexibility and core strength training using 10-pound dumb bells for resistance. This is an informal class so shorts or sweats are acceptable.

Although the class does not emphasize Aikido specifically, physical fitness is an important part of Aikido training. Many times, especially with beginners, the students stop training early on because of an injury. Being physically fit helps students enjoy all the benefits of training Aikido offers.

Kitsap Aikido is a nonprofit corporation that began offering classes in the fall 1994 in Poulsbo. The instructors donate their time and knowledge. Anyone is welcome to train with them. Their mission is to share the benefits of Aikido with the local community and to improve the health and character of their students. No prior martial arts or Aikido experience is required.
