Voodiez site won’t be a restaurant
Poulsbo will most likely not be getting a new restaurant in the wake of Voodiez closing, according to contractor Doug Clark.
Clark owns Choice Construction, which has been gutting the building at 18932 Front Street. Clark said they are looking at the "structural integrity" of the space but have not filed permits or planned construction for a particular business. The new owner of the building, Blue Bay Holdings, will make a decision soon as to what business or businesses will occupy the space, Clark said.
The building was built in 1918 and has 2,410 square feet of space. The building had been in receivership for a few years. The previous owner, Michael Dawson, paid $375,000 in 2005, according to Kitsap County Assessor’s records, but would not disclose the price the new owner paid for it.
Voodiez was a family-friendly restaurant that had occupied the bottom floor of the building for five years, and closed May 23. Its lease was not renewed when Dawson sold the building to Blue Bay Holdings earlier this year. Clark said the owners have "more than one" potential tenants, and the owners are "sensitive to retail on the main level, with potentially a business opportunity [office space] on the second level."
“We’re excited about the location, and excited to be a part of the community,” Clark said.
